Banned Books Week – Every year well-intentioned individuals and groups seek to remove from libraries book that they believe are inappropriate for their communities. Books that are challenged successfully become banned. Many Americans oppose banning books as a violation of the First Amendment. Banned Books Week ” highlights the value of free and open access to information and the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider “unorthodox or unpopular.”
